Making your organisation thrive? Put the flourishing of your people first

The planet, our society and the economy are in need of systemic sustainable renewal. Organisations have a big role to play in this. But what is the key to a thriving organisation? Our research shows that many organisations are overlooking something essential…

Sustainability at the core

Gone are the days when sustainability was seen as something ‘extra’. Earlier, sustainability was on the periphery of an organisation and barely touched strategy. There is now a clear shift from sustainability at the edge, to the core. Leading organisations see sustainability as an opportunity and want to drive more than financial value. To this end, they are developing an integrated sustainable strategy so that sustainability is included in every strategic decision. A great development.

These strategies are particularly focused on making products, services and processes more sustainable. Obviously important, but our research shows that more is needed for truly thriving organisations.

Thriving people are essential to a thriving organisation

We launched a study on what it takes to redesign an organisation into a thriving one. Some of the key insights are:

– Thriving organisations are characterised by a strong purpose, which is aligned with the personal purpose of individuals
– The purpose is translated into everything the organization does. The power of purpose manifests itself through the individuals in the organization
– The well-being, flourishing and development of people is therefore paramount. This is based on the belief that it is the people who make it possible; they are the catalyst for change
– A thriving organization plays an important role in eco-system innovation. In this, as in a biological system, there is a constantly evolving relationship between all entities
– This requires from the people in an organization openness, flexibility and adaptability and a motivation for co-creation within and outside the boundaries of your organization
– In short: A thriving organisation flourishes through its people!

A model that helps organisations thrive

We turned the results of our research into a model that helps organisations flourish. The ‘Bee Flourishing’ model helps organisations put purpose at the center of everything and holistically connects the ‘people’ side of an organisation, with the ‘business’ side. Below you can see a sneak peak of the model. We would love to develop it together with you.
