New business strategy for Nyenrode Business University

Challenge

The University Council of Nyenrode Business University wanted to develop an ambitious and forward-looking strategy for the next strategic planning period, starting in mid-2020. The aim was to broaden their way of thinking and their ambition by exploring new business models, being inspired by good practices and creating together with students, customers and other stakeholders.

In collaboration with Elemental, an approach was developed to achieve ambitious, validated and inspiring outcomes. This included:

- Exploring new ideas and learning from other sectors: inspiration sessions, virtual organisational safaris and relevant case studies helped to broaden ambitions.
- Internal and external engagement: a core team and a challenge team worked together to create a vision, define themes and validate customer needs.
- Ongoing feedback loops: regular sessions with stakeholders were organised to ensure alignment and support from key stakeholders.

Result

The result was an ambitious strategic plan that not only resonated with Nyenrode's mission 'Serving society by shaping responsible leaders', but also received dedication from key stakeholders. It was presented to the Nyenrode Foundation Board in a clear and appealing format and was designed to inspire both internal and external audiences, generate enthusiasm and stimulate action.
